My Statcounter shows that some poor guy was looking for the Hindi meaning of Richa when he landed up on this blog. And since I am in love with my name, I feel obligated to explain the meaning of Richa.
If you check the meaning of the 'Richa' on the web, the usual answer will be the "The Hymns of the Vedas", which is true. But as you know Sanskrit is a beautiful beautiful language. Everything in Sanskrit is so poetic. So the meaning of 'Richa' isn't that simple either. The root of the word 'Richa' is 'Ric' (as correctly explained on Wikipedia too), which means to praise. This can be extended to the meaning of Worship. 'Richa' is the mesmerizing sound that one hears when someone praises him or her or when the hymns of the Veda are recited. And hence the Hymn of the Vedas is referred as 'Richa'.
And thats my name: RICHA.
