P.S.: From Monday (June 28th), I have started the series “Bird Watching” on my photoblog. I will post every MWF for next few weeks. I am new at bird watching and hence, don’t know most of the bird species. I will be grateful if you can help me out.

  4. Oh wow! What a beautiful pic. I wonder if we crossed each other while you went to take this picture. Hmmm since it has been taken on 28th of June, it is not likely. I managed to click a few of these birds, same location, but none in action or as spectacular! Besides my camera is not as good too.

  5. Thanks Gopu! Do check the photoblog (Aperture). Hopefully you will like the rest of them too. :)

I know this one at least its a Roseate Tern (I think).

  7. I was just replying back to you and got the second comment. Are you sure it's Arctic Tern and not Roseate Tern? I am just doing some online searching for various birds and thought it looked like a Roseate tern, but I can be wrong...

Cool, so you also live in bay area? I have been visiting Shoreline lake almost daily for past week or so. May be we did cross path at some point. Have been trying out my less-used lens that I have neglected for years now and discovered the joy of bird watching...

  9. After posting the comment I realised I was wrong. I thought it could be the common tern. I am not an expert by any stretch of imagination. :) Its just that I saw them a lot during my walks at the trail.
I don't stay there, but was on a visit. That's why I said if 28th then surely not likely to have crossed your path as I was on my way back then. :)

  11. You did? did you walk around the trail or were only at the restaurant side? Shoreline lake has a 10 mile trail that is quite beautiful and has a wide array of birds. You should try it out sometime. :)
